International Best Practice Competition (IBPC)

Winner(s) Certificates for 7-Star ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ best practices (in any best practice area) 

Winner Certificate for highest overall best practice Star Rating for an SME (50 or less employees) (One winner selected, if Star Ratings are equal the Judges select the strongest best practice, the winner must achieve at least 5 stars).

Winner Certificate for the highest overall best practice Star Rating per category (One winner selected, if Star Ratings are equal the Judges select the strongest best practice, the winner must achieve at least 5 stars, the judges determine which category the best practice fits in which may be different than shown in the program if the practice covers multiple areas).

      • Governance (crisis management, transparency, accountability)
    • Social and Environmental Responsibility
      • Social responsibility (engaging with the local community/public good activities/diversity/anti-discrimination)
      • Environmental sustainability (surpassing regulatory requirements for energy use, waste, pollution, and/or consumption of natural resources)
    • Strategy and Performance
      • Strategic planning and deployment (future foresight, balanced scorecard, triple bottom-line)
      • Performance measurement and management (selecting measures, analysis, reporting, dashboards/ big data)
    • Customer Focus
      • Customer and market focus (understanding customers, building customer relationships, marketing)
      • Design of products/services (research and development, translating customer needs to design)
    • Supplier & Partner Relationships
      • Supplier relationships and partnerships (supplier selection, collaboration, joint initiatives and services)

      • Education, training, development, and learning

      • Digital transformation (using digital technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, robotics to transform processes)
      • Automation and technology (application of advanced technology and integration of independently designed systems)

(These areas may be merged or expanded dependent on how many applications are received in each best practice category)

Pioneer in Excellence Prizes:

  • Winner(s) Certificates for organisation(s) that have had the most best practices assessed at 4-Stars ★ ★ ★ ★ and above
  • Winner(s) Certificates for organisation(s) that have had the most best practices assessed at 5-Stars ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ and above
  • Winner(s) Certificates for organisation(s) that have had the most best practices assessed at 6-Stars ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ and above

(Includes the period 1 August 2022 to 16 July 2023. Note Best Practice Certification may also be obtained outside of the competition, this can be useful for organisations wishing to find out their Star Rating and improve on it before the competition)

Certificates and Verified Badges

All applicants will have their best practices graded using IBPC’s Best Practice Certification Scheme and receive a Certificate of their best practice’s Star-Rating. In addition, all presenters and Q&A participants will receive a verified badge with the Star-Rating of their best practice.

IBPC’s Organisation-Wide Innovation (OWIA) Award

  • Winner(s) OWIA Certificate & Star Rating
  • Runner’s up OWIA Certificate & Star Rating
  • Verified Badges awarded to all presenters and Q&A participants.

GBN’s Global Benchmarking Award

  • Winner(s) GBN Global Benchmarking Award Certificate & Star Rating
  • Runner’s up GBN Global Benchmarking Award Certificate & Star Rating
  • Verified Badges awarded to all presenters and Q&A participants.

IBPC’s Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) Excellence Award

  • Winner(s) ESG Excellence Certificate & Star Rating

In addition to the plaques and certificates for all the awards listed above, award winners will receive substantial publicity via blogs and Linked-in Posts. 

Trophies/Plaques

This will be the first year we do not automatically send physical plaques to the winners. We have decided against this due to the cost of sending them around the world and it is not environmentally friendly (hence our move to providing verified certificates and badges that can be shared electronically and printed and framed). However, we can send trophies if requested for an additional charge to cover their production and postage. Examples of trophy design can be provided.
